PAST HUNT ARCHIVE

2020 - Monster Hunt at Robert Luck

CLUE #01

It lurks among us, no ordinary monster, haunting day and night.
Its many tongues, rows of teeth, seething of malicious volition.
Its ghoulish eyes never blink with fixed juxtaposition.
It weaves and winds, it spots you -- your heart races with fright!

EXPLANATION: 35E

CLUE #02

This monster, history shows, isn't the only that roams.
One of many in its line and similar malign,
Destruction and battery - families fled from their homes.
Avoid this older kin of fifty-nine.

EXPLANATION: When the 35 E freeway was added it split neighborhoods in half.

CLUE #03

Along your journey, it may be slippery. I suggest proper foot attire.
With the King's approval, you'll cross his plot as local legend shows.
You'll come across a garden spot where they've begun to decompose.
With stick in hand, walk the right path, in some spots you cannot use four tires.

EXPLANATION: The street that parallels 35E turns into a walking trail and bike trail only.

CLUE #04

The monster hums with a weird congestive vibe, the locals vocally opposed it.
They couldn't stop it, but they tried, hoping it would rest in peace.
The war was lost, they could only hope to contain it.
They proposed to slow it down, instead a wall was built to appease.

EXPLANATION: Along 35E a sound reduction wall is built between the trail and freeway

CLUE #05

There are several paths one may choose.
Search the area known for brew.
One, it seems, an uphill battle.
The other with flattened ends for carts and cattle.

EXPLANATION: nearby street clues for West 7th

CLUE #06

Learning to dance with two blades for young kids was done outside in the cold.
As you got older, you either went up the hill, or you were stuck down below.
You could step into a house with warm air, before arenas were built, I've been told.
Perhaps your skills might land you on a team at Murray or Monroe?

EXPLANATION: 35E cut neighborhoods in half and determined which school you went to. Also nearby is an outdoor skating rink

CLUE #07

Celebrate the departed, safe at home, avoiding road construction?
Or handing out candy, on All Hallows' Evening?
Oct. 31st is just around the corner, those kids you're pleasing!
Put away the calculator and use simple deduction!

EXPLANATION: house number and street names at hiding spot location

CLUE #08

Across the monster? ... your not exactly Evel Knievel.
Above this span, on the path most pleasing, sits a tree with all of its arms cut off.
"My dear boy", as he pulls out his pipe, " It's elementary", he pauses to cough,
"Don't you know that fortune from luck brings you money, which stems from the roots of all evil?"

EXPLANATION: Behind the home base of the baseball field is a trimmed tree trunk on Watson and the Elementary School

WHERE IT WAS FOUND: Robert Luck; a trimmed tree trunk behind the baseball field's home plate, near Watson and the elementary school.

WHAT IT WAS FOUND IN: A foam hockey puck with 35 googly eyes and the medallion.

WHO FOUND IT: Ed Brodie, Matt Littlefield, Steven Softener.
